Villages Are Great

The picture of the two of us is at the Church in Shalford. The picture of me alone is at Michaels in Braintree.

Like I seem to say every week, this week went by so fast! And they seem to be going faster and faster. Days have turned into weeks and weeks into months now. In just a few days I will have my three month mark already. What did we do this week? Missionary work of course! We went to the villages of Shalford and Wethersfield, did some painting and wall paper removal, did finding in town centre, and my training in district meeting wasn't a complete train wreck.

Villages are such a great place to be here. Last week we did Felsted, Flitch Green, and Little Dunmow, and this week was Shalford and Wethersfield, which are north of Braintree. Going out to these smaller villages are such a nice break from the faster pace of the bigger towns like Braintree and Whitham. The picture this week is from the church in Shalford. I am definitely grateful for having a car, even though sometimes I get sick of driving everywhere.

Finding in town centre was interesting this week. Normally, people are really busy and don't stop to talk with us, especially on Wednesdays and Saturdays, which are market days. On Saturday, we had things go differently. We didn't have anything planned for the morning, so instead of using valuable proselyting time to plan, we decided to just hit the streets. We actually had people stop to talk with us! We have no idea what was different, because we did the same things we normally do. One of the people we stopped was a lady named Sally. After talking with her for a little bit, we learned from her that she lost her father about a year ago, and is curious about what happens after death. We taught a few principles from the Plan of Salvation, which deals with our time before Earth, our life and purpose here on Earth, and what happens after we die. It was so great to see some of her questions be answered, and we are planning on meeting with her again this coming week.

We also had the opportunity to be at the farewell for Tom Sagripanti on Sunday. He is headed off to the Argentina MTC on Wednesday, and then off to the Buenos Aires North mission. It reminded me so much of my last time in church at home, and how I really had no idea what I was getting myself in to. For the record, I still don't really know what I'm doing. We just trust in the Lord to guide us 20 year old dorks around. Anyways, he will be a great missionary and he already knows Spanish.

Today we are going to try to make it up to Cambridge. Yes, Cambridge. The actual Cambridge. This week is actually our last week together, so we are going to try some creative finding techniques we learned from a member. I will report on those next week. Because next week is the end of the transfer, P-Day will be on Tuesday, September 1.

Make every last day count!
