Well this week sure went by fast! With two exchanges and a blitz, I've barely got to be with my own companion. But overall, things went well.
Last week was probably the best week of food I have had so far. We also have some exciting news, we are having a baptism at the end of this week!
This baptism is really a miracle. It's basically free because we haven't had to do anything for it. There is a family living here that moved from Ireland a few years ago. Upon looking at the records, it was noticed that their 11 year old daughter had no baptism or confirmation record. She has been baptised, but there is no evidence of it. The ward and the mission office have looked all over the record including Ireland, the Scotland/Ireland Mission, and Salt Lake. Because nothing can be found, she gets to have a second baptism. This will take place for her this Sunday. How wonderful it is for her to get to have this twice!
Another friend we have been working with is named Noela. She is the live-in caretaker of a 99 year old woman. We have been working with her for a while, and she is amazing. She is pretty much a member already, but just needs to be able to come to church regularly. She is working towards that and meeting with her boss this week to get time off on Sunday morning.
Well, the chronicle of the Wembley flat issues continues. This time, more broken lights! I discovered the light in our bathroom broke at 1.00 AM, a less-than-optimal time to discover we had no light. When I was told I was coming to Wembley to fix things, I didn't think it was literal. Luckily I have a qualified background to fix light fixtures. I took the fixture apart in the ceiling to get a good look at the issue. The light is a low voltage halogen lamp, and the low voltage wires going to the socket had corroded and fallen out. I spent an hour getting it and the other one to work again. These are probably the worst possible fixtures to use in a high-humidity environment like a bathroom, but oh well. I have never realised the blessing of having working lights until now.
Speaking of food, this is how it went. Last Monday we went to central London, where I found a Chipolte. I would not leave until I got food there, and it was simply amazing. I managed to spend £9 (about $13.50) on food there. While on the blitz in an area called Ealing Broadway, I found a Five Guys. Again, I didn't leave until I got food there. I managed to spend £14.50 ($21.50) on food there. Was it worth it?
Totally. Walking in to these two places (like Costco a while ago) was like walking into a small slice of America.
This is already the last week of the transfer. It has gone by so fast!
We have a zone p-day in Watford today, district meeting tomorrow, and another exchange this week. It's going to go by fast again.
Cheers!
