Staying in Wembley, Brand New Missionary and Companion Yet to Arrive, 11 Year Old Roisin Baptism

Transfers week! Drum roll please... I will be staying in Wembley for at least another six weeks! But there is a twist... More to follow.

This past week ends another transfer. A lot has gone on, including a miracle baptism yesterday!

Yesterday we got to have the baptism of Roisin, who is 11 years old.

In the picture is us, her, and her older brother David who got to baptise her. I ended up conducting the service. It was raining on and off all day and absolutely poured during the baptismal service. At the end of the service, we sung closing hymn #52 The Day Dawn Is Breaking.

The first verse goes like this:

The day dawn is breaking, the world is awaking, The clouds of night’s darkness are fleeing away.

The worldwide commotion, from ocean to ocean, Now heralds the time of the beautiful day.

(Italics added)

Right on queue, the rain stopped, the clouds parted, which gave way to a beautiful Easter Sunday for the rest of the day. It came so instantly as if to say from the Heavens "We are pleased with the work you have done".

So, back to transfers. I need to explain a little bit of the missionary jargon for this to make sense. When you first come in to the mission field, you are "born". The missionary to train you is your "dad", and the oldest Sister in the district you are born into is your "mom". The family relationship continues with brothers, sisters, etc... When you are done with your time of service and go home, you "die", and the companion that you are with when you die "kills" you.

With that said, I have been called to bring forth a son in the land of Wembley. I don't know who he is or where he is from, all I know is I'm training this coming transfer! I will continue to be the District Leader of the Wembley district as well. My greenie will actually get here in two weeks, and so I will be in a trio with Elder Wen (who is

staying) and Elder Quoos (who is coming in new) until then. Also interesting is what is happening to the other Wembley elders that don't live with us. One is leaving, and the missionary replacing him is Elder Dias, who was my last companion in Braintree! I was with him one transfer there and he ended up staying six months, and now he is coming back to the same ward as me.

Upcoming this week is moving tomorrow, and lots of appointments this week from combining two areas into a trio. It's going to be different, but exciting! There is no growth in the comfort zone, and no growth in the comfort zone.

All the best!
