December is here! We have been blessed with sunny days (relatively). Sunset is at 3.45 and sunrise at 7.45. The sun is also somewhat deceiving, because it is low winter sun and still cold outside. For now we have had sunny days at least with little rain, following a similar pattern with last year. Sunny days always mean people are more willing to talk with us.
Speaking of talking with people, we had an experience the other day I just thought I would like to write down and share. Right now we are using the Church's Christmas Initiative Light the World to talk with people. We have found the best way to share this is to is just show it to people on the street with our iPad and a Bluetooth speaker. We stopped this mom and her daughter, and the mom was really hesitant, but her daughter wanted to watch. She was maybe six or seven. The mom turned to us, somewhat hesitant and a bit agitated and asked "why are you stopping people to show them this?" and her daughter, before even watching the video, exclaimed "To make people happy!" She knew.
There is a reason Christ always told His followers to look to the children as an example. We showed them the video and I could see the light from this seven year old girl. She is the light of this world. Her mom rushed her off before the video even finished, but we gave them a card just before they rushed off. I don't think I stopped them to help them be more happy, it was for that seven year old girl to show me what happiness is and how it is all around us. Somehow, growing up in a world filled with confusion and strife, she was still able to see the Light of Christ, and shine some light on me. At that moment I was a recipient of the very message I am sharing with people. That moment strengthened my light more than anything that day. It's funny how most of the defining moments of my mission thus far have not been momentous events, but small and simple things when reflected upon, have made all the difference.
I am happy that transfers week is over. Transfers week is always extremely tiring and there are a lot of boring administrative things to do. A member even asked me if I was sick at church yesterday but I was just really tired.
Upcoming this week is MLC on Wednesday, Zone Meeting on Friday, and then the week after that is Christmas Conference on the 15th! That is the last time I will be able to get mail before Christmas.
Cheers!
